Shipping Costs

Shipping costs have always been the "dark side" of business transactions. No matter how it is applied, what you pay for shipping never seems quite right. Some companies base shipping on the amount you spend. Others offer "free" shipping but bump up their merchandise prices to cover themselves. Yet another approach is to simply offer one fixed rate. Each has its pluses and minuses but the bottom line is always the same–you feel like you've been taken advantage of. I've come up with a shipping method that is truly unique and refreshingly fair. When you mail in your order, you are asked to include a nine dollar fee to be applied towards shipping. When I fill your order, I'll then take your box to the post office. They will weigh the box and tell me the exact postal shipping cost. I will subtract that number from the nine dollars, write a refund check ON THE SPOT and put it inside your box before sealing up. That way you'll get your gear and your refund check simultaneously. Can you think of a better way? Nor am I charging you a "handling" fee for time invested, packaging materials, gas to drive my car to the post office, money for coffee and donuts on the way or whatever. My goal is to give you backpacking DVDs and videos and lightweight gear at prices that are fair, honest, reasonable and affordable to the masses.
